 I.) Answer the following questions.

1.) What is patriotism?

Answer: Patriotism is immense love for one’s country. It just not means to die for the sake of the country but to show respect and love towards the country. Patriotism can be reflected from one’s actions towards it.

2.) Why is the National Anthem not played in the cinema halls these days?

Answer: Earlier National Anthem used to be played at the end of the movie in the cinema halls. But people would leave the hall midway, laughing, shouting and making noise that showed disrespect towards the anthem. This made the government to take the decision of not playing the anthem these days.

3.) Why did Nanaji take Ajit and Naina to Himapet?

Answer:Ajit was excited to listen a story from hisNanaji. Nanaji then told him he would tell real story of real people by taking Ajit and Naina on a picnic to Himapet. He wanted to show and tell the real story which would change their perception.

4.) Why did Akash decide to settle down in India? What does it show about his character?

Answer:After completing his MBBS, Akashwent to USA for masters degree and came back to India. He came back because he felt that his mother land had done so much for him and spent money on his education. He thought to repay its debt by serving for the people of the country. So he decided to settle down in India. This quality of Akash shows that he was a patriotic. He could have gone to USA and earned more but rather than choosing that his love for the country made him stay here and serve for the people.

 

5.) How did the villagers express their gratitude to the service provided by Akash?

Answer:While serving for the people during an epidemic, Akash got admitted in a hospital and passed away after a some days.The villagers were grateful towards his duties and humble actions. They decided to pay homage to him and collected donations for building a small hospital in the village. Finally their efforts paid off and Akash Memorial Hospital was built in the memory of Dr. Akash.

 

6.) What difference do you notice between Akash and his friends?

Answer:Akash and his friends together went to USA for their masters degree. Except Akash everyone else stayed back in USA. He came back and decided to serve for the people of his country. He was a patriotic man with gratitude in his heart. His friends earned lot of money and led a comfortable life in USA whereas Akash served for the people who were in epidemic. He could not stand the sufferings of the people. This shows the huge difference between Akash and his friends, Akash had gratitude towardshis mother land but his friends seem to be indifferent in this and chose a life different from Akash.

 

7.) If you were in Akash’s position what would you have done?

Answer:If I were in Akash’s position, I too would have done the same thing as he did. I believe that our country and society has done many things for us and we should try to repay as much as we can. Our small actions could make big changes in the society and country. Whatever is possible for me I would do for the sake of my country.
